Milestones like this don’t come around often—CFA Rescue has officially celebrated 40 years of service to the community. To mark the occasion, volunteers, families, and community members gathered for a celebratory BBQ event. The day was filled with stories, laughter, and reflection, as members old and new came together to recognise four decades of dedication. From the earliest days of the association to the present, CFA RA has grown from a small group of committed volunteers into a statewide organisation supporting 23 brigades across Victoria.

The event provided an opportunity to celebrate the countless hours of training, responding, and community service that have defined CFA Rescue’s history. Former leaders shared their memories of early challenges, while current members reflected on how far the association has come in terms of skills, equipment, and coordination. The BBQ also gave families the chance to see firsthand the camaraderie and commitment that binds CFA Rescue together, highlighting the role that loved ones play in supporting volunteers’ service.

The day was more than just a celebration of the past—it was also a moment to look to the future. Speeches highlighted CFA Rescue’s evolving role in an ever-changing environment, where new technologies, growing populations, and changing risks all demand continued adaptability. Volunteers spoke with pride about the association’s achievements, but also with determination to keep building on the legacy.

The event captured the true spirit of CFA Rescue: service, teamwork, and community. With music, food, and an atmosphere of gratitude, the BBQ strengthened the bonds between members and the communities they serve. It was a reminder that while equipment and training are essential, it is the people—the volunteers who step forward in times of need—who make CFA Rescue what it is. After 40 years, CFA RA stands as a proud example of what can be achieved when people come together for the good of their communities, and the celebration was a fitting tribute to that enduring commitment.
